3rd International DoSChem Student Symposium July 6-7 2023

organized by the PhD students of the Doctoral School in Chemistry (DoSChem) of the University of Vienna.

3rd International DoSChem Student Symposium

  • When: July, 6-7 (Thu-Fri) 2023
  • Where: Faculty of Chemistry; Carl Auer von Welsbach Hörsaal / Großer Hörsaal 1

The DoSChem Symposium always gathers a lot of students and faculty of our large Doctoral school (>200 PhD students; 53 PIs), where the projects of the three different research focus areas are presented and discussed. Each session is opened by a renowed keynote speaker invited by the students. This allows the discussion and connection between the variety of our focus areas and therefore from all corners of chemistry.

Keynote speakers of past events:

  • Panel A: Johannes Hunger - Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz, Germany with the talk Elucidating Interaction Sites to Understand Specific Ion Effects on Proteins
  • Panel B: Damià Barceló Cullerès - Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research in Barcelona, Spain with the talk Emerging Contaminants in European Water Resources
  • Panel C: Herbert Waldmann - Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology in Dortmund, Germany with the talk Chemical Evolution of Natural Product Structure

  • Panel A: Ferdi Schüth - Max Planck-Institute für Kohlenforschung, Germany with the talk
The transformation of the chemical related industry towards CO2 neutrality
  • Panel B: Jeroen Krijgsveld - University of Heidelberg, Germany with the lecture about
Novel proteomic approaches for cancer biology and the clinic
  • Panel C: Jonathan Clayden - University of Bristol, UK with the talk
Exploiting molecular shape for function and reactivity
