Join DoSChem
There are several ways to join DoSChem, depending on your situation:
- Looking for a PhD position? Apply via the DoSChem pooled call (once a year) or apply directly to an open PhD position - throughout the year.
- New to the Faculty? Complete your DoSChem admission to join the doctoral school.

DoSChem Pooled Calls for prospective PhD Candidates
DoSChem launches an international spring call each year, offering doctoral training across all areas of chemistry. Applications are submitted centrally and forwarded to your preferred PIs. If selected, you will be contacted directly for interviews.

Looking for Open Positions?
Open positions can be filled during the year, independently of the DoSChem call.
If available, an open position will be posted on the Faculty of Chemistry website.

Already in a Research Group?
For PhD candidates already at the Faculty of Chemistry and enrolled at the University of Vienna who still need to complete their admission to DoSChem.

DoSChem Pooled Calls
Eligibility
DoSChem is open to Early-Stage Researchers (ESRs) of any nationality who have not yet been awarded a doctoral degree in chemical sciences. Applicants must hold or be about to complete a master’s degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry or a related discipline. The program language is English; proficiency is expected and evaluated during the selection process.
Application Requirements
- You may apply while completing your master’s degree, but it must be awarded before your start date
- Formal proof of English is generally not required unless specified
- English proficiency is assessed during interviews
- Recommendation letters are not required in advance
