Panel C: Retreat successfully completed

The Panel C (Synthesis and Catalysis & Biological and Medical Chemistry) has successfully accomplished its first scientific retreat which took place on 05.11.-07.11.21 in Admont, Styria and was masterfully organized by:

  • Assoz. Prof. Dr. Dennis Kurzbach (Institute of Biological Chemistry)
  • Fanny Kozak (Institute of Biological Chemistry, Kurzbach group)
  • Nedra Jouini (Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, Mindt group)

The two and half successful days full packed with exciting students talks and poster sessions across six institutes, with inspiring guest speaker talks:  from Hideaki Ogawa about Art Thinking in innovating projects, from Prof. Mario Waser about chiral ammonium salt ion pairing organocatalysis and from Prof. Christoph Kreutz about elucidation of functional RNA dynamic by NMR. All abstracts of the talks and posters can be found here.

The venue took place next to the Admont abbey located in a picturesque setting of the Gesäuse- “the Roaring Mountains”, so one of the cultural and social highlights was the visit of the world largest monastery library. Moreover, the programme was rounded up by the fun pub quiz game(s) reaching beyond the Chemistry fundamentals as for the brain exercise and accomplished by the yoga session for super healthy minds as for the body and soul exercise!

Please find the highlights of the panel C retreat within the picture gallery (photos contributed by Dennis Kurzbach and Christian Becker) and bullet points outlining best talks poster awards below.
