Panel C: Retreat 2023

Panel C (Research Focus Area Synthesis and Catalysis & Biological and Medical Chemistry) has successfully completed its third retreat March 22-24 in Fürstenfeld, Styria. It was very well organized by teams from the Organic Chemistry (Davide Bonifazi, Davide Zanetti,Terézia Morávková) and Inorganic Chemistry (Thomas Mindt, Xabier Guarrochena, Julia Kronberger).

More than 50 participants  from six different institutes went to in Fürstenfeld, in Styria and spend two days at the JuFa Hotel with interesting talks and posters.

Pictures were taken and kindly provided by Dong Min Lee.

3 guest speakers were invited to the retreat:

  • Clemens Decristoforo (Uni Innsbruck), Multifunctional molecular imaging probes based on cyclic hydroxamates
  • Pablo Rivera Fuentes (Uni Zurich), Molecules that Blink
  • Paolo Melchiorre (Uni Bologna), Photochemistry & Organocatalysis -New Radical Opportunities

The scientific program was rounded up with an exciting tasting tour to the famous Austrian chocolate factory Zotter with the behind the scenes on bean to the bar manufacturing facts and of course lots of chocolate tasting! Afterwards, the group enjoyed the beautiful spring weather in the Zotter garden. At the JuFa Fürstenfeld, diverse sports facilities and bowling alley offered a fun retreat setting in a leisure atmosphere with a vibrant exchange during two poster sessions.
