Panel B: Retreat 2025
The fourth scientific retreat of Panel B (Bio- & Environmental Analytics and Food Chemistry & Physiology) took also place at the Hotel Payerbacherhof and was successfully organized by:
- Evelyn Rampler (Analytical Chemistry)
- Jory Liétard (Inorganic Chemistry)
- Amirreza Dowlati Beirami (Rampler group)
- Etkin Parlar (M. Somoza group)
- Igor Ilic (M. Somoza group)
Below we've selected just a few photos! Photos were kindly taken by Amirreza Dowlati Beirami. If you plan to share or publish these images, please ensure proper credit is given to the photographer. We invite you to scroll through and recap some of the most memorable moments from the Panel B retreat!

Activities
Panel B's retreat, with a strong emphasis on fostering connection and exchange among students, began with two engaging poster sessions and concluded with a casual, fun pub quiz activity.
The second day offered a well-deserved “free afternoon,” giving attendees the chance to unwind—whether by relaxing at the wellness centre or enjoying a sunny April hike through the beautiful landscapes of Schneeberg and Rax. The day wrapped up on a high note with a karaoke evening.
According to the feedback survey (with an 68% response rate—well done, Panel B!), these activities created a well-balanced atmosphere for laughter, connection, and recharging after the scientific sessions. Comments such as “Honest exchange with people struggling with similar problems and openly talking about it” and “Connecting with new people and sharing insights” reflect the very purpose of our retreat. It seems the organizers struck the perfect balance between scientific content, social activities, and downtime.
Of course, there's always room for fine-tuning: while the evening social events were a hit, some noted the challenge of balancing them with the need for quality sleep—“Longer sleep. Having sleep is extremely important for taking up new information!” Perhaps next time, the hike could be offered in two versions: a relaxed “easy riders” walk and a more ambitious “keep-along” route. There’s also a great suggestion to include an interactive keynote session—perhaps in a conversational interview format.
And finally, a huge thank you to the organizing team—it was a real pleasure working with you. You did a fantastic job!
